How to use the map

Each pin represents a georeferenced ATM. For readability, nearby ATMs are grouped into numbered clusters: zoom in to separate them. Clicking on a pin shows you:

  • Operator or brand (e.g. Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit, Poste Italiane, BPER, Euronet).
  • Address and access hours (when available on OSM).
  • Operator fee: some independent ATMs apply a fee even to Italian cards; when this information has been recorded in OSM you can see it right away.
  • “Get directions” button that opens the route in Google Maps (car, public transit, walking).

The Use my location button asks your browser for geolocation permission and centers the map on you: useful when you are already out and looking for the closest ATM.

Withdrawing cash in Rome: what to know in 2026

The cost of a withdrawal at an ATM that is not your own bank’s depends on three factors: your card (Bancomat/PagoBANCOMAT, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit circuit), the ATM operator and your current account contract.

  • Your own bank’s ATM: withdrawal is almost always free, up to the daily limit (typically €250–600).
  • Another Italian bank’s ATM: interbank fees have historically been between €1.50 and €2.50, but several online accounts (Fineco, ING, BuddyBank, Hype Premium, Revolut Plus/Premium) include a set number of free off-network withdrawals per month.
  • Independent ATMs (Euronet, ATMItalia, YourCash, Cardtronics, Moneybox in shopping malls and 24/7 convenience stores): they almost always apply an additional fee (from €1.95 up to more than €5 for large amounts or in foreign currency). The good news: the ATM is required to show you the fee clearly before you confirm. If the cost does not suit you, cancel: nothing will be charged.

If your card is issued by an online account or a neobank, also check the number of included withdrawals (often 3–5 free per month, then €1–2 each): the map helps you prefer partner-network ATMs when possible.

Frequently asked questions

Can I withdraw cash without a Bancomat card, using my bank’s app?

Yes, Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit, BPER, Banco BPM, ING Italia and others support cardless withdrawal at their own ATMs, using a QR code or a temporary code generated by the app. Independent networks (Euronet & co.) do not currently support cardless withdrawal.

Why does an airport ATM cost so much?

Many ATMs in airports and shopping malls are run by independent operators (Euronet, ATMItalia) that apply higher fees. The fee is always shown on screen before you confirm: if it seems excessive, cancel and look for a traditional bank ATM on the map.

How do withdrawals with foreign cards work in Rome?

All Italian banks and independent networks accept the main international cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express where indicated). Watch out for two items: the exchange rate applied by the ATM (it is usually better to choose “without conversion” to use your own bank’s rate) and any operator fee.

Is the data always up to date?

The pins come from OpenStreetMap, a collaborative project continuously updated by contributors. Coverage is good but not 100%: if you notice a missing ATM you can add it for free from the OSM website (a free account is required). For hours and fees, the ATM screen is always the source of truth.

Is Banche.Roma.it connected to the banks or ATM operators?

No. The site is independent and the data is for informational and orientation purposes. For withdrawal terms, fees and limits the source of truth is your current account contract and the official website of the bank that issued your card.
